A.M. Raychel Teaching Schedule:
TECHNIQUE & SCENE STUDY ( Hagen /Meisner)
First – Improvisation is the basis of all acting. Second – Use yourself to become a newly selected you.
Through the specifics of the psychological and physical environment of the character these psychological
and physical and environmental factors create dimensions of character’s existence.
Very specific choices create very specific behavior. Third – All must contribute to character ‘wants’ and/or ‘needs’.
This motivation activates emotion from the subconscious.
IMPROVISATIONAL READING
“How you read is how you will play.” Improvisational reading involves immediate, subjective/instinctive identification with the text.
Also practice in ‘taking it off the page’ and making it yours. You can break habits that inhibit new/fresh discovery.
You can learn to improve visualization and connecting with your own impulses—through specific practice.
Learn how improvisation continues from first read thru nth performance to keep role fresh.
Class size is limited for active participation of everyone.
DIRECTING THE SCRIPT
“It’s all in the details.”—Alfred Hitchcock
What does the play want to solve (objective)?—and using objectives to determine the psychological and physical actions of characters.
How do all the characters reflect an aspect of the play’s objective from the largest to the smallest units?
And how the specific components of the psychological and physical environment interact with the objectives.
And how these components affect blocking. Trial and choices and exploration are encouraged.
Class size is limited for active participation of everyone.
